• What is server hosting?

Server Hosting is for customers who have their own server or servers that they wish to host on the internet. Common customers with this requirement are customers who host special web applications, large or complex websites, game servers or mail servers. GoHosting offers a service where you can host your server on our network for a monthly fee. Our network is located at the Transact Communications datacenter in Dickson in the ACT. This is a dedicated datacenter with industrial air-conditioning, 24 hour security monitoring, 24 hour access, UPS's and backup generators, all designed to give your server maximum uptime and availability.

• What additional services do I receive if I host a server with GoHosting?

All server hosting plans include:

• 1 X 10/100 Ethernet port to the GoHosting network
• Internet firewall on our core internet router. Only the ports your request will be opened. Setup or configuration changes of this firewall is counted against your monthly support quota.
• Optional server monitoring with SMS alerts (65 cents per alert)

• What happens if my server goes down, or I need to access it urgently?

Normal response times for urgent out of hours access is less than 1 hour. You will be given our priority phone number where you can reach on on-call technician 24 hours a day 365 days per year.

If you require access to your server please notify as much as possible. If you require urgent access to the server, charges may apply. All work outside of normal working hours incurs an $85 surcharge. Cost for work in excess of the included monthly support is charged at $80 per hour which is charged in 15 minute lots. Work is any time spent by GoHosting staff in relation to a hosted server i.e. Access to the server room, supervision of some one in the server room, tech support calls, pager response.

Currently normal hours are 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 4pm Saturday.

• Are there restrictions on what I can run on my server?

Yes, and no. You are free to run anything you wish on your server, as long as it does not cause a disruption to our other customers or our network. All software and hardware for your server is provided by you and licensing and maintenance of your server is your responsibility. GoHosting can provide support for you server as part of your hosting agreement. Please contact us for more details.

• How many rack units (RU) can my server take up?

Our standard plans are provisioned for up to 4 RU. If you require extra RU for a larger server or additional equipment then this will be charged at $25 per month per RU.

• Can I rent a server from GoHosting?
