How to set up two-factor authentication for your GoHosting account

Posted on December 7th, 2022

Two-factor authentication (commonly called 2FA) is easy to set up and will make your account even more secure!

There are multiple types of two-factor authentication you can set up with GoHosting. Below we’ll run through how to set up 2FA with each different method.

From December 15 onwards, you will be prompted to setup 2FA upon logging in. For this, after logging in you can skip to Step 3.

Step 1 – Log in to your GoHosting client area account

To do this, click “Client Login” from the GoHosting home page or “Client Area” in the top right corner of this page.

Enter your GoHosting account login details in the fields provided and click login.

Step 2 – Go to your account security settings

Once you’ve logged in, you’ll see your user dashboard.

From here click your account name in the top right corner and a dropdown will appear

Select “Security Settings” from the dropdown menu.

When you’re in your security settings, click the green button under the two-factor authentication heading.

Step 3 – Setup two-factor authentication

You’ll be presented with a box that has two options. Select your preferred two-factor authentication method.

Email Two-Factor Authentication

After you select the email option, an email will be sent to the email account used for your GoHosting login.

Note: If you’re logging in to your email account through a web browser, it’s important not to close your current tab so you can come back to it to paste the code.

Open the email we sent you, copy the code provided, and paste it into the “Authorize Code” field.

Click activate and you’re done!

Google Authenticator or Duo

After selecting “Time Based Tokens”, click get started and you’ll see a QR code appear.

To setup this method you’ll first need to make sure you have either the Google Authenticator or Duo app installed.

We recommend you use the Google Authenticator app which you can find on the Google Play Store for Android users or on the iOS App Store for Apple users.

Once installed, open the app and click the plus (+) symbol in the bottom right corner. Select “Scan a QR code” and hold your phone up to the QR code on your screen.

Note: If you aren’t able to scan the code, you can use the setup key method instead. After clicking the plus symbol, select “Enter setup key” and follow the prompts.

After scanning, a code will appear under “secure.gohosting.com.au” in the app – this is your authentication code. Enter that code, click submit, and you’re done!

Note: It’s worth noting the codes change after a little while, so be sure to enter the code straight away.

That’s it you’re all set up!

Next time you login you’ll be asked for your second factor. All you need to do is head to the place you just set up (either your email or the app) and enter the code found there.
